The purpose of this research was to study the effectof cooperative learning by student teams-achievementdivisions technique on reading comprehension of MathayomSuksa two students. The subjects comprised of 60 students inMathayom Suksa two of Rayongwittayakom school, in theacademic year 1995. Out of a total of 16 classes, 2 classeswere chosen as samples based on no difference scores on Thaiand reading comprehension. One of the classes was therandomly assigned as the experimental group and the other asthe control group. Each group consisted of 30 students. Thestudents in the experimental group were trained to read byusing cooperative learning with student teams-achievementdivisions technique. The subjects in the control group weretrained to read by using traditional method. Both groupswere taught by the same teacher for 16 sessions within 8weeks. Each session lasted 50 minutes, and conducted by theresearcher. All subjects were tested by researcher onreading comprehension before and after the training. Thetesting scores were analyzed by using the t-test. The findings revealed that : 1. The students in the experimental group obtainedhigher reading comprehension scores for the postest than thepretest scores at .05 significant level. 2. The students in the experimental group obtainedhigher reading comprehension scores for the postest thanthose in the control group at .05 significant level. |
