The objective of this research is to developsoftware metric, regardless of computer languages ordevelopment tools, to assist project managers inestimating the efforts and document volume of softwaredevelopment, using the Function Point technique. The prototype programme has been developed andused in the estimation of efforts and document volume,as well as collecting information on accomplishlydeveloped software project in Thailand. The equationsfor estimating standard values of efforts and documentvolume were formulated and adjusted with Least Squaremethod. The results showed that the estimated standardvalues from individual company information representthe standard values of company concerned. Standardestimation using collective information resulted inhigher deviation. Nevertheless, the Function Point prototypeprogramme enables project managers to estimate theexpenses on effort and document volume by selectingcompany standard values or general standard values. Thestandard values should be well adjusted for correctnesswhen more information is obtained. |
