The purpose of this research were to compare the construct validity, reliability, response stability, mean and information function of Likertattitude scales with different order of response labels and intensity ofstatements and to study the interaction effects of the order of responselabels and intensity of statements on mean, reliability and responsestability. The research instruments were six Likert attitude scales towardsteacher's professional. The sample consisted of 208 students in Facuity ofEducation, Chulalongkorn University. Data were analyzed through descriptivestatistics and reliability was estimated by Cronbach's alpha coefficientConfirmatory Factor Analysis was performed to determine the constructvalidity through LISREL program 8.10. A comparison of rank of the differentorder of response and intensity scales was performed to determine responsestability. Test information function was analyzed through PARSCALE program. The results were : 1) The interaction effects of the order ofresponse and the intensity of mean of Likert attitude scale were foundsignificantly. At the strong-intensity and middle- intensity statements, the reversing order scale had higher mean than the traditional order scalewhile the traditional order scale provided higher mean than the reversingorder scale at the mild- intensity. 2) The interaction effects of the orderof response and the intensity of reliability of Liken attitude scale werenot found. At all intensity levels. the reversing order scale had higherreliability than the traditional order scale 3) All scales had theconstruct validity. 4) All scales had significantly different responsestability. The interaction effects of the order of response and theintensity on response stability were not found 5) At the to low and mediumattitude level (-3(+,ณ)(+,q)(+,ณ)0), the reversing order withstrong-intensity scale provided higher test information function than otherscale while the reversing order with mild-intensity scale provided highertest information function than other scale at high attitude level(.5(+,ณ)(+,q)(+,ณ)3), the reversing orders scale provided higher ratio ofaverage information than traditional order scales. |
