The comparison between two models of OTA-simulated floating inductor has been made. These models are the original gyrator based OTA-C floating inductor that composed of 4 OTAs and the reduced version of the original which composed of 3 OTAs. Their difference is the OTAs input mode of which the original model uses all single-ended input mode but the reduced model uses two single-ended input and one differential input mode. Focusing on the desire frequency response, the original model is proved to be better than its reduced version both mathematically and experimentally. Nevertheless, this assumption might be right only when using the OTA that uses bipola technology in which the input resistance is not high enough to be ignored. This is because the differential input mode naturally increases the effect of finite input impedance, which is acceptable in some application. However, for simulating the inductor, it could be serious problem in some situation. Above all, we just want to provide the alternative way of OTA inductor simulation, which is actually forgotten based model of the most well-known model that is composed of 3 OTAs. |
