The purpose of this research was to develop and implement an environmental education training curriculum on energy and environmental conservation for secondary school students. The sample were Mathayomsuksa 5 students at Mahidolwittayanusorn school, Budhamonthol district, Nakornpathom Province. The research was divided into 3 steps. The first step was preparation of a curriculum. Data were collected by reviewing documents and related studies and using questionnaires to survey the training needs from a sample of 108 students. The second step was curriculum formulation. The training program comprised the objectives, concepts, content, training procedures, schedules and evaluation. After formulation, this training program was verified by three thesis advisors and three experts. The third step was implementation and evaluation. The training program was implemented in a real classroom with 36 students. The results of the training were evaluated using the pre-tests and post-test and the training program was evaluated by questionnaires . The results validated this curriculum for use. After the training program was implemented, it was found that the average post-test scores of the experimental group were statistically higher than the pre-test scores at 0.05 level of significance. The average post-test scores of the experimental group were statistically higher than those scores of students in the control group who were not in the training session at 0.05 level of significance. Students in the experimental group expressed satisfaction with the structure and components of the constructed training curriculum. This indicates that the training program was appropiate for high school students seeking to improve their knowledge on energy and environmental conservation in school. |
