This study aimed to compare the achievements and students attitudes on addition, subtraction, multiplication and division by applying calculation skill exercises with mathematics games to the teachings of Prathom IV students. It was an experimental research of Control Group, Pretest-Posttest Design. The population was Prathom IV students under Si Sa Ket Primary Education Office in the 1998 academic year. The sampling consisted of 356 students. Instruments used were; a lesson plan for the calculation skill exercises, a lesson plan for the mathematics games, calculation skill exercises, an achievement test and an attitude test. Data were analyzed using; arithmetic mean, standard deviation and t-test. Findings wcrc as follows: (1) The achievement of the students in the comparison of pretest and post-test of the group using calculation skill exercises and the group using mathematics games were significantly different at the .01 level. (2) The achievement of the students in the comparison of the post-test of the group using calculation skill exercises and the group using mathematics games were not significantly different. (3) As for attitudes toward learning addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, the two groups responses were highly agreeable with most positive behavior. |
