This thesis was a study of the natural ventilation of habitation by using a metallic solar wall (MSW) under tropical climate (Bangkok). This wall consists of a glass cover, air layer, metallic plate painted black and insulator (microfiber and plywood). The effect of height (1 and 2m) and air gap (10 to 14.5cm) were investigated. It was found that, with 14.5 cm air gap and with 2 m(2) surface area, the metallic solar wall (MSW) induced highest natural ventilation rate of about 0.01-0.02 kg.s(-1). To maximize the natural ventilation rate, the height of MSW should be shorter in the order of 100-150 cm. Comparison between datum of the simulation with experimental showed a good accord, therefore the numerical model is valid. Thus, it can be used for evaluate the reduction of heat transferred into habitation. |
