The purpose of this research was to develop a local curriculum at the early childhood education level for preschool children in Lampoon province. The sample employed in a survey of local needs consisted of 150 randomly selected early childhood education teachers, parents, and school administrators. The sample also included 70 purposively selected heads of sub-district sangha order, supervisors, and local wise men. The sample for experimentation of the developed local curriculum consisted of 30 randomly selected second-year kindergarten pupils who were studying in the second semester at Lampoon Kindergarten School, Muang district, Lampoon province. Research instruments included a questionnaire, an interview structure, an evaluation form, a draft of local curriculum, 8 experience plans, a 40- item picture test, and an observation form of preschool children learning behavior. Statistical procedures for data analysis included the percentage, mean, standard deviation, and t-test Research findings indicated that the developed local curriculum was responsive to local needs. Its components were appropriate and corresponding well with each other. Pre-experimental and post-experimental learning achievements of the sample were significantly different at the .01 level |
