The purpose of this cross-sectional descriptive study was to examine the prevalence of anxiety and factors related with anxiety among 295 women during the climacteric period attending menopausal clinic at Sawanpracharak Hospital.The instrument was self reported questionnaires which consisted of questions for demographic data, Menopausal symptomsRating Scale, Life Stress Event Rating Scale, Social Support Rating Scale and TheState-Trait Anxiety Inventory(STAI)(Form Y).Data were analyzed by using descriptive andinferential statistics and were presented as percentage, mean, standard deviation.TheInferential Statistics were t-test, One-way ANOVA, Pearson's product moment correlationcoefficient and Stepwise multiple regression analysis. The result of this study was found that prevalence of severe anxiety state was 59.3%.Menopausal symptoms and life stress event were significantly positive correlated to anxietystate On the other hands, social support was negatively correlated to anxiety state and anxietystate was positively correlated to anxiety trait. In conclusion, severe anxiety trait, severemenopausal symptoms and loss of spouse were significant predictive factors (53.6%) for anxietystate. |
