The purpose of this research was to study the participation of urban residents in the Healthy Cities project in Nakhon Rajasima Municipality. By using simple the random sampling technique, the sample of 295 urban residents were randomly selected from Nakhon Rajasima Municipality. Data were collected using interview questionnaires. The statistics employed in analysis were the Chi- square test and descriptive statistics. The results of the research can be summarized as follows: 1. The urban residents in Nakhon Rajasima Municipality were found to have a moderate level of perception in their opinion and awareness about the causes of environmental pollution. They also felt that Nakhon Rajasima was the top Healthy City in Thailand. 2. The participation of the urban residents in Nakhon Rajasima Municipality was through the use of public services. They did not have any involvement in the process of solving these environmental problems. 3. Analysis of data showed that the variables occupation, education, perception, awareness and opinion were significantly related to participation. In contrast, the variables age, sex and income were not significantly related to the participation. Based on the above findings, it is recommended that the Nakhon Rajasima Municipality should pay more attention to promote and encourage the urban residents to be actively participate in solving these environmental problems by themselves, particularly by providing support for technical assistance and more available budget to the awareness raising program. |
