The objectives of the research are to create the geographic information database and to analysesuitable central wastewater treatment system sites in Sikhiu Municipality, Amphoe Sikhiu,Changwat Nakhon Ratchasima. The study area is covered an area of about 11.6 square kilometers.The principal steps of the analyses are involved the study of wastewater treatment systemdesign and the collection of spatial data, consisted of graphic data and attribute data, whichare related to various variables that are utilized for designating of the central wastewatertreatment system sites. The variables are later on input to Geographic Information System (GIS)for analysis by Index model. By doing so, weighting scale and rating scale of the variables areassigned by experienced experts. The spatial analysis is executed in the GIS softwareenvironment and is built upon the following two principles. Firstly, the spatial analysis isexcuted in ArcView environment (ArcView 3.3); secondly, all variables are analyzed usingoverlay technique in Grid Module embedded in Arc/Info software version 7.2.1. The suitablecentral wastewater treatment system sites in Sikhiu Municipality can be finally categorizedaccording to the total scores which are divided into three levels: high-score, medium-score andlow-score suitable areas. The results reveal that the suitable central wastewater treatment system areas are covered95.28 per cent of the Sikhiu Municipality boundary. The high-score suitable areas provide 40.77per cent and are mainly located in agricultural area in Tambon Mitthapap. The medium-scoresuitable areas are about 53.75 in percentages and covered almost the built-up areas of TambonSikhiu. The low-score suitable area yields 0.76 per cent. |
