The purpose of this research were to study the state andproblems of curriculum implementation in elementary schools underthe Expansion of Basic Education Opportunity Project under thejurisdiction of the Office of Nakhon Pathom Provincial PrimaryEducation. They were 23 school administrators, 115 teachers whowere heads of subject groups. The research instruments were thestructured interview form and the documentary analysis form. Thedata were analyzed by means of frequency distribution andpercentage. The results were as follows: 1. In the aspect of preparation : Schools were preparedprior to their curriculum implementation by which parents wereinformal through public relation coordinating with outside unitsin providing the document, text, media, persornel, the basic data ofthe school were classified and designated the roles andresponsibilities, the media were surveyed and registered. Theteachers were strengthened their confidence in curriculumimplementation by distributing curriculum documents for them tostudy, and coordinated with other secondary schools so thatteachers should be able to exchange their opinions with otherteachers. 2. In the aspect of operation : the schools managed thelearning program by offering courses/ activities in each term.The teachers constructed the lesson plans with secondary schoolgroups. The assistants to the director for academic affairs setup the time-table by setting up the compulsory subjects first, theteachers were assigned to teach according to their abilities, theinstructional activities were set up according to the contentsand were flexible according to the local situation. Theadministrators supervised by visiting the classes and usingobservation form. The measurement and evaluation used were testsand the results were used to improve the teaching of theteachers. The boy-scout and young red-cross activities were usedto support the curriculum implementation. 3. In the aspect of following up and evaluation : theschool administrators conducted once every term by usingwork-performance recorded form and the results were used to solvethe problems. In the aspect of the problems : there were insufficientamount-of personnel budget and the delay of budget, deficientamount of curriculum documents and facilities. The teacherslacked the knowledge of curriculum, lesson planning, testconstruction, teaching methods, media production and utilization,lack of systematic supervision, lack of personnel who hadknowledge and abilities in supervising, and school personnel didnot realize the importance. |
