This research serves the purpose of comparing the academic achievement of students studying recorder and music theory in Art for Functional Living Course 4 by using learning center and usual method. The students involved in this study were in Matayom Suksa 2 of Prapathomwittayalai School at Nakornpathom during the 1997 academic year. The instruments used in this research were the lesson plans of recorder skill and music theory for the learning center group, the lesson plans of recorder skill and music theory for the usual method group, the tests during learning and the achievement test. The sample was divided into 2 groups. Each group was consisted of 50 students. The experimental group was taught by learning center, and the control group was taught by usual method. The time used in the experiment was 6 fifty minute periods for each group. The result shows that in the study of music the theory, the academic achievement of the students taught by learning center was not significantly different at the level of 0.05 from the achievement of the students taught by usual method. In the study of recorder, however it was found that the academic achievement of the students taught by learning center was significantly higher at 0.05 than the achievement of the students taught by usual method. |
