The purpose of this research was to study the level of academic achievement of Ear - training in the course of Music Skill I, Mattayomsuksa 1, Dramatic Arts College, using 2 different methodologies. The 2 methodologies compared were "separate rhythm and melody methodology" and "combination methodology". The population for this work was the first semester of beginner level 1 students at Dramatic Arts College, academic year 2000. The sample group was 48 beginner level 1 students who majored in western music performance and western vocal performance. They were randomly selected and divided into two groups, with 24 students per group. The experimental group was taught by separate rhythm and melody methodology and the control group was taught by the combination methodology. The sampled sessions were ten periods long, and lasted fifty minutes per period. The instruments for collecting data were the progressive tests of rhythm, sight singing and dictation. The results of this research were that the efficiency of rhythm clapping and sight singing between the experimental group and the control group were statistically different at .05 significance. The efficiency of learning of the experimental group is higher than the control group. The efficiency of the dictation test between the experimental group and the control group are statistically not different at .05 significance. |
