The purposes of this research were to study the level of knowledgeand attitude concerning the rights, liberty and equality, according to theThai Constitution B.E. 2540, of lower secondary non-formal educationstudents, and to compare the knowledge and attitude of those students withdifferent backgrounds. The sample used in this research was 394 studentsfrom a population of 31,191 students enrolled in the Lower SecondaryDistance Non-formal Education Program of the 4 Bangkok Non-formal EducationCenters in the academic year 2000. The instrument used for data collectingwas a test and an attitude questionnaire. The statistics used for analyzingthe data were percentage, mean, standard diviation, t - test and one wayvariance. The results of the study were as follows : 1. The knowledge about the rights, liberty and equality according tothe Thai Constitution B.E. 2540 of non-formal education students as a wholeis at an adequate level ((-,X) = 0.55). When each component was considerded, itwas found that their knowledge in the areas of right, and equality is at anadequate level, while in the area of the liberty being at a moderate level((-,X) = 0.59). 2. The attitude towards the right, liberty and equality according tothe Thai Constitution B.E. 2540 of non-formal education students as a wholeis at a moderate level ((-,X) = 3.37), and when each component was considerded,it was found that each component is at a moderate level. 3. The knowledge about the rights, liberty and equality according tothe Thai Constitution B.E. 2540 of non-formal education students withdifferent age is significantly different, while that of the students withdifferent sex, birthplace and education achievement is not different. Theknowledge of those students with different occupation is not different inthe cases of the rights and equality, but different in the case of liberty. 4. The attitude of non-formal education students with different ageis significantly different in the case of the rights, but not different inthe cases of liberty and equality. The attitude of those with differentsex, birthplace and education achievement towards the rights, liberty andequality is not different. However the attitude of the students withdifferent occupation is different only in the case of the liberty, but notdifferent in the cases of the rights and equality. |
