This research is to study the voting pattern of threegeneral elections in Nakhon Ratchasima Province. Themethodology of this research is to compare the data of 3general elections, 24th July 1988, 22th March 1992 and 13thSeptember 1992. The hypothesis is that the voters who are inthe upper socio - economic status in urban or wealthy areashave different choice in election from the voters who are inthe lower socio - economic status in rural or poor areas. The methodology of study is survey research combinedwith documentary research on the so-called geographicalanalysis technique. The samples in this study are the voterswho live in Nakhon Ratchasima province in 5 constituencies.Multi-stage random sampling is opplied to 10 amphurs andspecified random sampling is selected for 4 municipalities,in order to get a good distribution of sampling. The samplecovers 1,500 voters, in average 150 voters in each Amphurand 50 voters in each municipality and tambon. The results of the study are that the voters had theirown election pattern. The voters voted for individuals morethan political party status. They casted their votes becauseof civic duty rather than the real sense of politicalparticipation. The differences of living areas had nosignificant effect on voting pattern. The aforementionedelectoral pattern is clearly shown in the geographicalanalysis. |
